Blog 2 PLNs

Since the development of technologies, we are more and more inseparable from the internet and social platform. We can easily purchase anything we want with a few simple clicks and it will directly deliver to you home. Like Eric Stoller says in the video, “your body of work your portfolio your blog your tweets everything that you do on the web kind of represents your digital identity”[1] Digital identity represents one’s behaviours, habits, personal interests. Even we can figure out one’s way of doing things by looking at the comment he/she give to others. Different from physical identity, digital identity involves a wider range of areas, which describing a person more thorough and unique.

Since social media can share one’s feelings, religion and personal values. Personal and professional use of social media can be different.  As professional use of the platform, social media offers a chance to connect with clients on a  personal level and maintain a brand across all marketing channels. The more we post on social platforms, the more public exposure we get. However, it not always bring positive effects. people might be judged from other users with different backgrounds.

Blog-1 PLN and PUBLIC COMMUNICATIONS

In modern society, communicating through the network is extremely normal to us. Back in 2007, most of our communication methods were dominated by text and phone. Using software like Instagram, Facebook, Linkin, etc seems impossible. Right now network using social media already embedded in everyone’s life. I use Linkin to demonstrate myself and expand the social cycle. Employers can reach me by simply searching my name or my special skills. Social media speeding up and expanding our personal exposure. Using the physical business card can’t achieve this effect. Most of us learn how to use new mediated platforms by tutorials generated from the Creator, however, Users and creators are normal don’t share the same point of view. It might lead some users to have difficulty using the new platform. Just like me using the Brightspaces, I really don’t know how to locate the information I need. I spent almost 5 mins to figure out where is the Zoom link for CSC360. Network privacy is a serious topic to talk about. Since we can know a person by simply searching his/her name, look at the photo he/she took. Sometimes we might feel privacy violated. This could lead to serious consequences. Internet scams are more and more common now. People fake others’ profiles by taking screenshots and post to fake accounts. It’s also hard to trace who and where they did that. Even more, some people know one’s daily routine through their post and scout the target. This could be very dangerous. On the opposite side, we can obtain the exposure we could never imagine before. Bring more working, relationship possibilities to our life.
